Flyinspanner Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Hi I've just bought a TW125 as a bit of a project, and a way back into 2 wheels...I know it's not hugely powerful, but it should be fun doing it up. I started out on a blue FSIEdx back in '78, moved on to a Suzuki GT185, for about 12mths, then got a Kawasaki KE175. (Off-road fun with a Kawasaki KX250 A7) Moved on solely to cars in about 1982, but got a Peugeot scooter in about 2008 for a year.(50- too gutless for 15st bloke haha) .....and now the two wheeled bug is back! I've just picked up a 'barn find' 2002 TW125 with only 16k on the clock and mots to verify, it's currently a non runner, with a wiring fault. it appears that it will run if 12v applied direct to the starter solenoid, but not via key/starter, so I guess I'll start looking at stand inhibitor switch, ignition switch, and start button and take it from there. I shall get on the tech threads when I run out of ideas and talent The rest looks like it could just do with a bit of cosmetic care. Needs mirror mounts,(both snapped castings) throttle grip (missing- though tube is ok) and clutch lever. I will do my CBT, just to get 'mobile', but think I may do a direct access (when I rode back in the day it was 250 limit for 'L'), I was doing a test once when the indicators packed up during the test, tester wouldn't let me continue using hand signals despite them not being a 'requirement' - but had to work if fitted..... I originally was an aircraft avionics engineer, worked on VC10s, 707, Concorde, 747s (hence the moniker) so fairly handy with hands on stuff. Been flying as Cabin crew since 83 though, and recently started part time, so time on my hands....once I finish the 12x24 summerhouse I'm building from scratch..... look forward to be on here, I've found forums invaluable with cars I've had ps any tips for cheap SORN insurance? 1
