Hello All

In the process of restoring a 1976 RS 125DX.  Almost ready for it`s MOT,   I know they are not required for a MOT but I have a problem.

The right hand mirror threads are useless, The mirror wont screw in , the threads are well worn,   IT is a Left hand thread.

Anyone got a Left hand helicoil/recoil kit?   Any suggestions for repairing it?

You could put a R/H, threaded mirror on, [aftermarket. ]  and just use the normal M8  Helicoil,   dunno about L/h  helicoils,

Thanks.   Yes thats what I`ll be doing,  Left hand helicoil kit £100 plus pounds,    Already seen some that will do,

You could drill out the knackered thread. Fill the hole with JB Weld. Let it go rock hard. Drill and tap to a left or right hand thread depending on which mirror you find. 

Or

Get someone to aluminium weld the hole ready for drilling/tapping.

Would any of theses fixes work on threads in a alloy  Top Yoke ? 

Alan a helicoil would work, which dt125 is it?

Ahhh I was asking because I have a spare top yoke but that's for DTMX
