Hi all can anybody tell me if the Alternator on my 1999 XJ900s has a rubber shock type drive or is it direct ? as it seems to be rattling a bit on tick over, and I can not find any comment about it in the manual.

    The rattle is likely to be the oil pump pin on the clutch, common issue with the Divvy. Ignore it, won't do any harm, but if it annoys you too much it's a relatively simple fix. Check out the Diversion owners forum for more info.

    Thanks kirriePete, the rattle can be heard and felt on the alternator not the other side but I suppose it migh be transmiting through ? but it sounds a bit heavy for the oil pump drive pin more of a light clonk every now and again.
