Posted November 19, 20168 yr anybody know the sparkplug cap resistance should be on a 1992 xv535 2yl ive got used coils and leads and they tested fine but would like to know if the caps resistance is important the plugs are ngk bpr7es
November 19, 20168 yr Moderator You have resisted plugs (that's what the 'r' means) if you use them with resisted caps your bike will run badly if at all. Resisted caps run 4Kohm resistance, so with the caps your lumping 8Kohms of resistance into your system. The ideal is unresisted caps and unresisted plugs for a really bright spark, its only to supress radio interference. One other other is fine but you don't want both. Â

November 22, 20168 yr Author hi cynic that's the reading I got on the xv535 caps would it not be different on a dt I will go back and check but the new caps I got were ngk xb05sf-r Edited November 22, 20168 yr by fishermanferg wrong wording
November 22, 20168 yr Author hi cyncal have put non resisted plug caps back on bike started ok but then again it started ok with the resisted ones I'm not a dab hand with a multimeter but there was areading of about 9.200 ohms
November 22, 20168 yr Author meant TO SAY I PUT THE ORIGINAL CAPS BACK ON I TAKE IT THEY ARE THE NONRESISTOR TYPES Â
November 22, 20168 yr Author I just unscrewed the inside of the original caps and there is a small ceramic resistor inside some say to take it out and replace with a piece of metal is it ok to do that or would it be best just to leave the original caps as they are
November 24, 20168 yr Author hi cynic I'm still a bit puzzeled my owners manual the plugs are bpr7es now if that is correct it is a resisted plug and the original caps are resistor types too ,now the Haynes manual states the plugs are bp7es which are non resistor type puzziling
November 24, 20168 yr Author the solution may be to use non resistor type plugs bp7es which I believe were originally used in xv535s
November 26, 20168 yr Author well the non resistor plugs have arrived bp7es now should I use the original caps or the new ngk ones both are resistor type but have different ohms
