I am currently changing my moto 4 from a 1995 wiring harness to an 88 harness(because that is the year parts bike I got). There are two issues I'm having. Well three I guess. The first is there is this little black box. Not the cdi, coil ect. I have no clue what it is. The only thing I can think is a fuss and when u shake it, you can hear something rattle.

Here is a pic:

Not sure if you will be able to read the numbers on it.

The next issue is I have an extra wire(at least I think). Coming out of the the stator, I have 4 white wires. I know three go to a mt60 plug, but the issue is the original owner cut that out of the stator wires??...so I ordered another one but I have not clue which one goes to wire one because they are all white and all cloth coated...so if anyone know how I can match those three together, please share. And also if you know if I'm just didn't see the 4th white wire(a single, lone male female bullet)goes or if it is a new addition and I will have to take the old wire out of the 95 harness and add it to the 88.

The last issue is I cannot, for the life of me, find a colored wiring diagram for the 95 or the 88. Please. If you have either or even if you just want to send me the whole manual, via email, PM I would really appreciate that too.

Thanks for any help!!

Inline relay/resistor I should think, either to step down or step up the voltage. My best guess anyway. Not allowed to send anything copyrighted over this site, owner will rip your balls off and feed them to you. Just Google what you want, it's out there just a bugger to find I bet.

  • 1 year later...

I too have a 1995 Moto 4 and bought a 85 part bike. If I knew then what I know now..... well let's just say it's been interesting. I played it smart and my first purchase was the Bible for these bikes and it is invaluable. A must!!!

I tore down both bikes with little worry, discarding this rusted bolt or that wore out etc. you get the idea. That was mistake #1 on that list of valuable lessons. I have to admit I had never tore down any engine in the past of this level of complexity. Actually I was surprised at it's straight forward design. For a 350 I was confidant so far. In the mean time took every bolt screw wire plastic you name it off and attempted to clean and restore it to cut down costs. In the end will prolly end up tossing most after trying every posted method from sanding to wire wheel and even launched chemical warfare on all the rust it had collected. Sanded and painted. Moto Looking great. I'm feeling pumped to ride as im getting close to reassembly time.

That was a month ago. No longer pumped, more like pissed. I ended up sinking around $1000k on every electronic related apparatus I didn't know existed till a month ago. Just like you interchanging year models while trying not to hack up my wire harness. Well I'm ready to hang myself with it. No spark still after replacing,-in order-1. plug, 2. ignition coil from amazon mr electric  2 the Stator amazing mr eletric and the same with cdi box. Repaired wire  harness. After ohming out each wire and having ground issues. Who am I kidding I put the harness on and off so many times I get sick when I see a plate of sphegetti to this day. Well then I find out my wife orders a stator and cdi for  a 1995 warrior 350. Well crap.... guess what. They won't take them back for exchange. So I say to myself.. "what the hell was I thinking in the first place" "note to self. Never. I mean never by an atv unless you can confirm it runs or can run with a little gas cause otherwise you just bought a pain in the a**!!!!

I eventually realized the flywheel pickups where different sizes between the two bikes and swapped them around. My god what a nightmare that was. Got a 3 prong 3.5 ton puller and it was too small. Swapped it for a 5 ton and it worked on the 95. I spent a week trying to get the other one off with no luck and finally bought the oem Yamaha puller. Worked like a charm and is a must if I ever have to again.

I can't guarantee it will be tonight "cause I'm about to go try now that I'm all jacked from re-living this ordeal" or tomorrow, if ever. But I ain't done yet. I will get to the bottom of this no spark problem. If anyone can offer advise I'm all ears. Thanks.  I will ride!!!  Never surrender!!!!!

Best Regards

Christopher "mymotos'a'nogo" Patrick

by the way I have learned a few tricks just not the right one for my no spark issue. LoL
