I think I've put too much oil in my xj600n, the window on side of bike looked empty so I put 2litres of oil in. I then noticed I couldn't get first gear when engine was warm.so I took some small tubing (like fish tank tube) and now its fine.could I have ruined my engine if left?????

Lets guess that you put the tubing in the engine and drained the excess oil out. Yes?

And youve now got the correct level of oil?

Yes, you could have damaged the motor with too much

Of course its the rain, unless you looked like a red arrow trailing smoke?

Every wet weather biker either swaps the plug caps with every other set of plugs or keeps em stewing in wd40 with regular sprays over the bike electrics to keep it sweet.
