Adam2201
Hi guys, Hoping for a bit of advice. I've recently replaced the brake hose on my ybr as part of a caliper overhaul and although it was described as fitting my bike, the new SS one is much longer than the original.. Pics below :http://imgur.com/TYDhgGwhttp://imgur.com/E7ulHj7http://imgur.com/ZhWw9OB I can't seem to find a route for the hose that doesn't leave it flapping around. It moves from lock to lock with no problem but I'm wondering if it's going to be a problem for the MOT? Does anyone have any experience of this? Are they just checking it to see that it didn't foul on the frame/other parts when you move the steering, or will an excessively long hose (ooh err) cause a problem as well? Cheers in advance for any help
KevtheRev
Hi there Adam . A few well placed cable ties will tidy that up for you . I'd pull most of the slack up toward the top , kinda like a motocrosser . You can loosen the top banjo bolt to change the angle of the brakeline if needs be , but you'll have to bleed the brake after . You don't want that bowed out bit in the pic catching on someones tow hitch .
Adam2201
Cheers for the advice Kev. I did originally have the hose pointing upwards from the reservoir which was better but didn't like the steep angle of it . Will get busy with the cable ties and see if it gets better..if not will try pointing it up again...shouldn't affect the braking if there's a steep curve in it should it? KevtheRev
No as long as it's not kinked or pinched anywhere it should be okay . Always double check before going out on the road tho' .
Moderator drewpy Posted March 14, 2015 Moderator Share Posted March 14, 2015 I'd take it back, that does my head in if it looked like that. I would never be happy every time I got on the bike
nayruf
It might be a bit long winded, if it cannot be exchanged for a shorter hose, would it fit better if you routed the hose across the top of the top yolk, down the left fork leg then across the bottom of the lower yolk? Adam2201
Cheers Kev. Drewpy it's was an eBay special and had already opened and fitted bolts when I realised so I can't send it back , but it does look crap. Will see how it looks when it's tied up. Nayruf, tried a route across top yoke but it's not quite long enough.. just rubs on the key! Learned a lesson, should have paid a bit more for the HEL off wemoto
Moderator drewpy Posted March 14, 2015 Moderator Share Posted March 14, 2015 still complain if it was meant for your bike!
mike1949
It certanly doesn't look right to me, I'd be afraid it would snag in something. Should't look like that.
