Noise Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Get a bit of wood that will fit down the barrel ontop of the piston and give it a few lumps wirh a hammer to see if you can rotate the crank and get the piston lower down the barrel. Im thinking that the dowels that locate the barrel onto the bottom end have rusted and jammed them together.
luke.russell.771 Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 They have ive definatly got to replace barrel as got a but heavy handed and broke 4 of the fins so gonna get a good set of mole grips and try and unsrew the rusted bolt of at least turn it a little to break the rust
Moderator drewpy Posted December 7, 2014 Moderator Posted December 7, 2014 heat the studs till they glow, that will move them. let cool then try it
luke.russell.771 Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 Will do mate gotta buy a new can of gas for ma blowtorch its not the best but It does the job lol ill try that as soon as I get one also building a rs125 from frame up for ma mate lol and im rebuilding a littlw zd50py lol to many bikes on the go lol
wild foamy Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Ah, I built a DT50MX from the frame up in a weekend, depending how brutal you want to be, a wedge between the cooling fins may loosen it or just break the fins, either way of you aren't using the head again it doesn't matter
luke.russell.771 Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 Sorry havnt been on in a couple of days found out previous owner had bogde jobbed the exhaust by welding a nut to the exhaust right next to the stud which seems to of damaged the stud got it off ended up pulling it out of the thread in engine before it loosed the cylinder lol sorted now tho 70 kit fitted just waiting for a day to reasemble my bike now 1
luke.russell.771 Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 the dreaded weld I was talking about Whats left of the old cylinder The old piston this would do 35 (indicated) with this piston how is that possible ? Ta darrr finally nakaru 70cc kit fitted new gaskets and a heavy duty top end bearing now to re assemble the ped of death lol [emoji12] 1
Moderator drewpy Posted December 13, 2014 Moderator Posted December 13, 2014 good its sorted, if you knew it was welded and bit of angle grinding would have done that in 2 mins. typical eh!
luke.russell.771 Posted December 14, 2014 Author Posted December 14, 2014 Thought it was sorted but now gotta take it to a garage to get engine helicoiled due to the rough extraction of the cylinder [emoji31]
luke.russell.771 Posted December 14, 2014 Author Posted December 14, 2014 Tryed to start and losing a lot of compression from the cyliner bolt by the exhaust due to thread is stripped
Moderator drewpy Posted December 14, 2014 Moderator Posted December 14, 2014 don't tighten up just 3 of the bolts, you'll warp the head
wild foamy Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Helicoil kits are around £5-10 bud, I've got a couple over here which have saved my bacon a few times, give it a shot!
luke.russell.771 Posted December 14, 2014 Author Posted December 14, 2014 Ive been qouted 25 to helicoil it from a local garage im gonna let them do it at least if they mess it up I got someone to blame other than my self lol might grab a kit and have a practice tho for of I need it doing later down line on another project 1
luke.russell.771 Posted December 19, 2014 Author Posted December 19, 2014 Finally after a long week of waiting its done lol just got to put frankestein back together lol
wild foamy Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Frankenstein was the doctor, not the monster Common mistake lpl
luke.russell.771 Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 Oh lol thanks I thought that after I posted just wasnt to sure lol all together now and seems to want to pull off like a rocket as soon as I even dab the accelerator I must say I am very please with the nakura 70cc bore kit touch wood not a problen yet lol
wild foamy Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 If it's feeling a bit lively better check your mixture, if it's running lean it will overheat or even blow a hole in the piston
