Hiya there guys, I picked up a little 08 YBR 125 in early summer, good nick and runs very well, had an issue with the fuel pump in the summer but other than that its been solid, have been loving it commuting to work every day even with winter drawing in.

Issue is i commute early mornings, leaving the house at 6am its already pitch black, i commute on mostly unlit 60mph b roads, which called attention to the very poor headlight. I'm having to slow down considerably, other cars don't notice me all the time,my stomach is in my throat untill i get back into the land of streetlamps.

Its the ba20d fitting, i upgraded the lamp to a ring halogen, which is a little brighter, but emphasized the weird beam pattern, do you think this is normal for high beam, the low beam looks normal and circular, but the high beam is mushroom shaped and the dark spots arent helping, is my reflector messed up?

I have heated grips fitted so im hesitant to install extra cree spot lights, not sure if the bike would handle the extra watts and i reallllly like my heated grips.

I looked into HIDs but was eventually turned off as the beam pattern wont be right without the right projector lamp, apparently.

Would swapping in a h4 lamp unit improve things?

Other than that i'm pretty stumped, i dont want to spend a fortune on my little bike.

Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome.

Airhead is right, I struggled with the headlight, but in the bikes defence, it is pitched as a city bike - and with street lighting, it's not a problem.

Very similar to you, I used to leave my house at 5am for a 40 mile commute across country roads. Very scary at times! Particularly fog, and when cars were about, as I didn't trust them to see me.

Sadly, I can't be of any help to you as I didn't perform any mod to the bike, just focussed on getting my full licence... However what I did end up doing down unlit roads at night was riding with my full beam on... Enough car drivers were doing it to me, and interestingly not one flashed me to say it was annoying (!) it made a slight improvement for me, and didn't seem to piss anyone off. Win, win!

Thanks for the welcome guys and yeah it's the most epic guitar solo. :)

I know the best option is to do my big girl test and get a real bike, sadly I won't have the money till next year. It'd be pretty hard to let it go though it's been fantastic other lights of death, very forgiving and cost pennies to run.

Christ I nearly hit the kurb this morning, some ass came round the corner on my scary dark route with blaring 10000 watt hids on high beam, I flashed him but he still didn't dip you think he wouldv seen me if anyone.

Hi and welcome!

I have seen on places like eBay led spotlights. Very simple to wire in and very bright. 5w often produce more lumens than a 35w standard bulb
