You are all invited to our Teddy Bears’ Picnic, which will be held at The Pole, on Stanage Edge, Long Causeway, Sunday 14th September, at around noon, (for little bears that is when the two hands of the clock point upwards to the number 12) :lol: .

Please, as a donation, bring a small bear, toy or make a donation which will be sent to the charity Operation Christmas Child. This charity sends a Christmas gift to children who have virtually nothing of their own, in many cases not even a family.

The event will (probably) be the last formal one that motorised users will be able to undertake on the Causeway as the PDNPA Permanent Traffic Restriction Order comes into force on 19th September 2014.

Manchester TRF Volunteers will be happy to lead you, in small groups, to visit other Green Lanes in the Peak District,

we hope to have tea, coffee, juice and maybe chocolate biscuits too!

See you there?

If riders want to make their own way to Long Causeway then there are a number of options;

Ride there under your own steam;

OS grid reference SK228843 Lat 53.3548072632691 + Long -1.65704419601261 Postcode S32 1BQ (approx. location only) for Dennis Knoll Car Park

Manchester TRF will set off from two locations;

1. BP petrol garage, 113 Stamford Street, Stalybridge, SK15 1LH, leaving at 11:00 - mainly road work to destination

2. meet at the public car park behind the Purple Pakora Indian Restaurant, opposite Marple Bridge Railway Station, Brabyns Brow, Marple Bridge, Stockport, SK6 7DA leaving at 09:30 This ride will take in a number of lanes suitable for all classes of riders and motorcycles. We will have a number of ride leaders available so that we can split numbers up, so just turn up.

Manchester TRF (and others) ride leaders will be available to take groups of riders out from Long Causeway in the afternoon.

Looking forward to meeting you on Sunday.

Well folks, give yourselves a 'pat on the back' :lol:

We did not know if anybody would turn up but you did the TRF proud. I reckon that there must have been atleast 70 riders turned up today from as far a field as Cambridge; the North East and South Wales, two walking wounded, Andy and his good lady from the Samaritans, Elaine who took care of catering and wait for it - today Little Ted has no less than 40, yes 40 new pals with more promised at our next Group night, and to day you kindly denoted in cash over ÂŁ200, more still promised and some of you have made donations on line so I guess the figure could easily go nearer to ÂŁ300. Thank you, thank you, thank you :D

Ted wanted to show you his pals before they go off to make a lot of disadvantaged children very happy :lol:

Had a great day Dan...Hugh's a great fella and looked after us well. He even threw in some education around Eyam about the significance of the place re- the 'Black Death' and the fate of a local highwayman which was interesting.

Only got pictures of the final destination the 'Pole' on Stanage Edge. The Pole is an ancient waymarker, the only surviving one. It marks the route of the path so that when the snows come the drovers can still find their way ;) Sadly the route will not be able to be accessed using motorcycles as of next Wednesday. :(
