Posted May 23, 201410 yr Hey all you peeps i have a queery and would like some help... i have got a wobble on my xvs650. I've changed all the bearings from the front to the back, I've had my front and rear tyres checked and balanced ive also checked the frame for bad dents and cracks just to make sure but it's still there.. it only seems to occure when im between 60/70mph..
May 23, 201410 yr did it just start? or was it after a new tyres or anthing..hows the head bearings? disks? swing arm? could be a few things i can think off but my friend had the same problem on his bandit an it turned out to be the front tyre
May 23, 201410 yr Moderator Define wobble. Are we talking butt clenching terror shakes or a slight shimmy you can sense rather than feel. Can you feel it with your feet, your arse, your hands or all.
May 23, 201410 yr Author i have changed all the bearing from front wheel, swing arm bearings head stock bearings i upgraded to racers. rear wheel bearings are also new and ive had a new front tyre fitted and balanced about two days ago.. @ cynic it's more that i can feel it than see it more in my hands and legs. I'm wondering if it might need to get the front aligned?
May 23, 201410 yr Author I will add i had this before i changed everything. i was hoping all the work i did would have fixed it..
May 23, 201410 yr Author I forgot to ad I've also changed the fork springs as the originals wer fooked and ive also checked them for correct fluid levels and pumped them to make sure of no air gaps..

May 23, 201410 yr Type of tyre , not suiting the bike,,, is it crossing the white lines when wobble,,? Up the pressure a bit,,
May 23, 201410 yr Moderator does sitting forward or to the back change anything. How about with a pillion? tyre pressures?
May 24, 201410 yr Make sure your tyres are the sizes recommended by Yamaha , and that the pressures are correct . Sometimes mixing tyres from different manufacturers , even if the correct sizes , can have a bad effect .
May 24, 201410 yr Moderator If your feeling it with your arms and legs then its more front biased. Are the bars rubber mounted? Steering head bearings a little too tight? and front tyre would be my first inspections.
May 24, 201410 yr Author Ok from the top..... no it's not crossing the white line the wobble isn't severe but noticable, the tyre is a maxxi classic as recomended to me. i have checked the front psi and it's at 32. i have no bitch seat. their is no play in the swing arm i changed the bearings last weekend and have checked them again when i had the bike up in the air doing the headstock bearings. the tyre I bought is the recomended size in the handbook 100/90-19". the bars are rubber mounted. i have done a realignment on the forks which has helped..
May 24, 201410 yr Author I havent had chance to check it in the dry as we seem to be having the uk's annual rainfall down here at the mo so all my riding checks are done on wet roads..

May 26, 201410 yr Hey all you peeps i have a queery and would like some help... i have got a wobble on my xvs650. May 26, 201410 yr Author That was one of the first things I did. I took the new tyre right of and had a new innertube and the tyre refitted by a motorcycle workshop and got them to check it was seated properly... the only things i haven't done is replace the fork oil seals and I'm going to put another new set of front wheel bearings in just incase they are faulty as i did buy them from fleabay.. to all the others that posted i took her for a run and she still hasa small wobble.. more like a shake now..
