Hi,

I acquired a TMAX 6 months ago, and have noticed and experienced a couple of odd things now I'm riding with the lights on. Any help would be appreciated.

Power surge: Every now and then the panel lights, and presumably other lights, get very bright. I first noticed this waiting at a set of lights. After a bit they settle back to normal brightness, but will then get bright again.

Headlights: After blowing the dipped beam, possibly as a result of one of the surges, above, when I replaced the bulb I noticed something very odd. The configuration of the headlights is, from the saddle, left hand headlight bulb type H7, single filament; right hand buld type H4, dual filament.

If I call the left hand bulb #1, the right hand dipped filamen #2, and the right hand main filament #3, the lights work something like this:

Dipped beam: #1 is lit.

Main beam: #1 and #3 are both lit. #2 does not light under any configuration. I would have thought that dipped beam should be #2, and main beam #1 and #3.

So, does anyone have any clues as to what is causing the sudden brightness of the panel? and can anyone confirm if the lights are illuminating correctly, or are my thoughts correct (in which case the lights may have been wrongly wired up sometime in the past)?

Thanks,

Andrew.
