Bolton
Hi All. Could use a bit of advice with my 2002 DT 175. It had a partial seizure recently and I had it re-bored and installed new piston and rings/ gaskets etc. I think seizure happened because my wife (yes, it always helps to have someone else to blame) took it out on a 40 degree (104degree F) day and rode it as fast as it would go on the highway for about an hour. It started first time from the repair and I have done maybe 300kms (200miles) on her since. Last week she simply refused to kick start. I had started her normally that morning. She started second or third kick. I then rode her with no problems for about 30 kms and stopped at a friends place for a few hours. Came out and it would not kick start. Checked plug. Seemed to be running rich. Plug wet and black, but she did did spark. I eventually push started her with help from friend. Thick grey smoke came out of exhaust pipe for first few seconds then that stopped and bike ran fine and normally and I rode her home. Yesterday she again would not kick start. I am beyond my level of knowledge here. Anyone got any clues? Cheers All. Bolton
bb3924
what does the plug look like? does the "fuel" residue on the plug seem excessively oily? does engine sound different - knocking, for instance, when you first start it and exhaust is smokey? has there been depreciation in engine power noticed - when it does run? and, when you ride it now, does it quit/fail during ride or you arrive and shut it off? does it prefer full throttle or idle when cold or hot - anything you notice there? Moderator Cynic Posted May 1, 2014 Moderator Share Posted May 1, 2014 Duplication causes confusion. This is already running elsewhere. Asking in different bits of the forum just puts people off.
