Calling my fellow drag queens.

As you know I'm the twat who's taken on a task to re lace my front wheel, why you ask......... Well because I like the challenge.

If you would be so kind could you take a pic of the inside of your front hub, then a pic of the rim of the four hole pattern, (it will go 4 holes gap 4 holes) but could you label the spokes 1234 with masking tape then again at the hub so I can see what spoke goes to what hole.

Much love in advance.

I can't help with the pict, but from looking at your build page I think you need to move all the spokes over to the next corresponding hole, effectively lengthing them.

The difference iin the 2 pict's you have the new wheel the spokes look too straight.

Also if your asking for help then get the off set as well ..you need it as well

Cheers Gizz, ive finally got is sorted. only took me an hour and a half to do it once id figured out the pattern and where the spokes go in. Sadly i got so into doing it i forgot to take pics as i went a long to do a write up on it.

Still gotta true it up so i may pull out 4 spokes and do a write up with them but the annoying thing is the last spoke is a right ass to get in ha ha.

Thanks again for all your help guys :thumb:

Fair play mate! Cant offer any helpful advice. All I can say is I work in a massive motorbike repair centre which has over 500 bikes in here at any one time. We have master qualified technicians and they send the wheels of to be built by the guy down the road! Think they decided its best left to the specialist, like an art form a bit like tuning a piano or something haha. Fair play doing it yourself!

Yer it's all sorted now, many thanks to you all. It really want that hard once I'd found out the pattern. I'm half way through making it true, but I will be giving it to a pro so that they can do them up to the proper torque.

Thing is, I live to try things my self, the way I see it, if it's been done then it's not impossible. Saves you singe dosh too ha ha

Yo Noise . This will drive you nuts, you thought getting the pattern was hard, try keeping the offset correct and making the whole thing straight.tapping the spoke and listing to the sound is the trick when tight they will ring too loose and they THUD.

Home made trueing stand out of 2x4 lumber with metal base to mount dial indicator... Ok maybe not was going to post a pict but not working.

Basicaly it 2 up right boards V'd to hold axel with 2 to horzontial at the base and a block between the base to widen it,2 more horizontal mid way between the axel and base with a plate of steel on each to mount your magnetic base for the dial indicator.Below the base I drilled holes to hold 2 bolts nutted on eithe side of the board so you can slowly turn them in as you get the wheel straighterBefor you even get to the dial indicator stage

Tip: when you get close to true only turn the niples 1/16 or less every thing you do to one side of the rim affects the other side oppsit and 180,,, after getting it all perfect you should recheck the spokes after first ride you will find some that dont ring when tapped with spoke wrench and will need a bit of a turn. And blue locktight on the nipples

Take you time and walk away when you get frustrated it will all come true.

I found this article for all who attempt this and might help you now Noise a bit late but o wellhttp://www.dansmc.com/spokewheels.htm

Cheers dt, but the old saying goes ' too little too late' ha ha. I've only just finished tonight making it true using the hinge made wheel holder-upper-thingy-bob. Been resurching the web and you tube on all to do with this and with pics and info from you guys I've sort of done it. Proof will be in the test ride next year.
