I have a running dt125 This is my first bike I have worked on and need some help. I am attempting to change the bike into a street tracker and want to find out a few things if possible.

1) any tricks I can do to the engine or bike to make it faster?

2) I want to take the air box and replace it with a cleaner looking air filter, can it be done?

3) I cannot get the turn signals to blink, they turn on when I turn the switch but only stay on and not blink.

Hey everyone my name is AR! I'm excited I found a cool forum that can help me gain experience in bike building. I've always loved the old school look of cafe racers and the new school look of street tracker. So I finally gave in and bought my first little project bike about a month ago which is a 1979 Yamaha DT125. Looking forward to reading other peoples forums! Cheers!

Yeh ar" you can fit The DT175 top end,

The blinkers should flash when engine runs , as 6 volt battery is poor,

Air cleaner ? minefield,,, runs lean , needs jetting, etc. .

Thanks for the response! Do I need to replace the whole top end or just the cylinder head? And the lights don't blinker when the bikes on and it's a new battery I'm starting to think it is the flash relay.

You need barrell/ head/ piston/ pin/and small end bearing. As DT125"s are smaller.

Change the Flasher unit too.

yeah it could easily be the flasher relay, but it could also be dirty switches, dirty wiring plugs/sockets etc.
