dan28
I own xvs 125 that has been changed a lot its running 140 tyres with different front an backend by doing this I ve probably added weight I like the bike but I find it hard to manovure it around when bringing it out of house or in to bike parking at work etc It would be much lighter if it had a 2 stroke engine providing I can line up the sprockets I cant see it being that difficult to fit an engine am I missing something obvious? I noticed on dts the bottle for the water is mounted high up at the back of the bike under the side plastics is this because its gravity fed or just because yam found it a handy place to store it
Moderator Airhead Posted November 15, 2013 Moderator Share Posted November 15, 2013 it needs to be higher than the engine, sounds a bad idea to me, I reckon you'd have a right job selling it on...dunno what the insurance company might think also. Get it sold and buy a DT

Get it sold and buy a DT insurance said it will put insurance up by £27 a year that's if I swap the standard 125 engine for any other
Ttaskmaster
I find these things are usually much easier to manhandle about when you're sat on them. Use gentle clutch to get it going forward, use full steering lock and a firm amount of pull to get it going backward. Beyond that, the weight seems to make it more stable that its lighter brethren! dan28
I find it awkward lugging the 130KG + machine around I m sure most of the weight comes from the v twin I ve got a dt engine still in frame an I m able to lift this on to the bench with no bother I d like to think I can get the dt engine in the xvs frame but I m not going to rush into it there should be enough room to mount the oil an water tanks above the engine not sure about the air box though if I cant align the engine sprocket with my rear wheel I could fit the dt wheel an spacers as me exsting swingarm is wider than the dt s
