Phatjap
Hi all, Anyone had any dealings with a stuck clutch? The bike is a 1984 xz550, fully refurbed 15 years ago, not ridden since then. I've managed to free the engine and it runs a treat, but when I hopped on her and put her in gear she just bucked and stalled. So I guess the clucth plates have stuck. Never dealt with them and a little scared of taking the housing off tbh!! Anyone any suggestions on anything I can do with spending a fortune? yamguru
two ways to deal with this one either take the clutch cover off and dismantle the clutch to free the plates off or simply bump it off and ride it down a straight bit of road for a few yards or so the clutch will free itself in a short while
Moderator YamaHead Posted January 17, 2006 Moderator Share Posted January 17, 2006 Bump-starting it would be the 1st thing I'd try If you can get it running, good & warmed up.......then change that oil!....Definitely should help
Phatjap
Thanks people, I will try the 'bump' thing when I'm feeling brave enough, if no joy then I will gently take it apart and do it manually... Cheers Phatjap
