I have been quite lucky so far..just small dents in the bikes..but I will have to do something about this one. Been looking at various techniques but want to be sure I don`t cause further harm. They talk about heating and cooling..water in the tank and freezing it..glueing or welding things on and pulling it out..or hitting it out from the inside. Has anyone had experience of successfully repairing a dent like this? It looks like it should be quite easily repairable.

Hi Mc, I have seen several ways to get dents out over the years and the latest one is where you attach small bits of metal rod to the outside of the tank with a heat gun, bit like a spot welder, and then you pull on those to get the dent out, it does mean that you have to remove the paint at the point of the dent and then respray it but does a super job, the other is from the inside with long steel rods that reach round to the dent and gently work it out but that takes some skill and patience, I would suggest that you check out YOUTUBE for a few ideas that's what I did. Good luck.

:idea:DO NOT DO THIS TO A GAS TANK!!!!!!!!! ..............IF YOU DO AND IT BLOWS UP IN YOUR FACE DO NOT BLAME ME!!!!!.

Just .Thought you might have other dents to remove from the exhaust as well.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSHD9tI2vWM.

This is a way for removing dents in EXHAUST pipes NOT GAS TANKS!
