Posted August 25, 201311 yr Hi guys, as you know I have got a knocking on my engine. Well stupidly today I thought I would take it for a little run as hadnt started it for a coupkd of weeks...well after a mile the knocking turned to loud tapping then lost power from middle revs...then cut out completely. Sounded like it was slightly miss firing. I recently checked the plugs..leads..valve clearances..did oil change...welded holes in exhaust. Am suspecting piston rings but had good compression. ..till today anyway. One other fault that may or may not be related is the starter motor has been electronically grinding....but I took that to be from lack of use and charge...hence the ride today? Anyone got any ideas...before I strip the engine completely?
