Posted August 22, 201311 yr hello all! im wondering if anyone can help? this bike iv been rebuilding has been in some ones shed for 4 years with very little use!! got it running properly today but when i shift into first.. stalls! iv tried and retried adjusting the clutch on the perch and on the cable near the gear shift! but i was wondering, if it has sat that long with very little use... could the pressure plates or the actually clutch itself be sticking? maybe the clutch springs has stiffened?! any help would be great!!
August 23, 201311 yr Have you had a look at the side stand swith as on my 2004 model if the stand is down and I change down to first gear my bike will stall Might be worth a look mate
August 24, 201311 yr Yep bump start it pull in the clutch and see if it will idle without trying to pull away,then pop the side stand down .
August 24, 201311 yr Moderator clutch has stuck together thats all. Rocking in fitzt may fix it. After 4 years prob be. etter to whip off the engine case and separate the plates by hand.
August 28, 201311 yr Have you checked the oil level? not enough oil sitting for that long would make it stick together...
