I really like the look of vintge number plates that have silver lettering and a black back ground, i'm pretty sure that you can't have that style of plate on a recent registration. I'm wondering if i was to buy a private plate that is old,like the old 6 digit plates, can i have that made up in silver and black? also i have heard that if you have a 6 digit plate, you can legaly have it made smaller.

There's a bloke on ebay selling pressed Ali number plates quite cheap.

You can only have that style on pre 1970 vehicles

my wife has a 1972 Mercedes and that had black and silver plates from new, it still has them and nothing has ever been said at the mot

Yip " pre 1973 is legal , L reg....was the last black plate,,,,

I see plenty of new HDs with them on. Not legal, but they use them.
