awchick
Hi All, I'm a new member (typically with a desperate plea for help!). I've a good basic knowledge of mechanics and have completely restored two Morris Minors and thought I would have learnt enough from this to be able to cope with fixing up a YBR125 but my cheap and previously neglected 2006 YBR125 has me completely stumped as the bike refuses to fire up normally. The problem seems to be fuel/mixture related. The only way I can get it to fire is to cover the air-inlet to the carb partially to restrict the air flow. By doing this I can get it to run but without the restriction the bike will stall under 3000 rpm. I initially thought it was something simple related to the carb but having swapped this with one from a scrappy I still have the same fault. I've really run out of ideas with how to fix this and being a few miles away from a garage and with no bike trailer I'm now stuck! If anyone has any idea to the likely cause of the fault I would love to hear from you! Thanks in advance for any advice offered. Andrew.
blackhat250
Hi Andrew. the carb needs an air filtre for restiction ,as the over lean mixture causes poor pick up at low throttle openings,, Also check the pilot jet is clear, how does it run with choke on,,, Start a new topic in workshop,,,,,about this problem,
awchick
Thanks for the quick reply. I've asked the question in the workshop section as suggested. With regard to the air filter there is one fitted and the air filter housing is all together, I'm currently restricting the air intake of the air filter housing (under the seat) to get the bike to initially fire up. To me it seems like an air leak causing the mixture to be too weak but there aren't any obvious defects.
