Hi

I've just purchased a 1984 yamaha XZ550.....in bits, I hasten to add.

I've got a query regarding pads. My new pads came today but they are slightlyyyy bigger than the originals.

They were quite hard to get in the calipers and they dont seem to slide along the shims or slider bolt too easily. You can push them back and forth along them if you use a screw driver or similar instrument, but not easily. I've put copper grease on the approapiate metal bits, but still seem a little stiff. I'm wondering how much resistance is acceptable. Should they be looser than this. or sloppy, or just a little resistance.

As pattern parts they are squarer at the shim end, making them about 3/4 mm higher, therefore tighter on thr shims. I have asmall grinder to take off the difference....

Thanks in advance.

Is it just the powder coating making them bigger or the actual casting?

Hi

I have solved this problem. It was metal that was too much, I actually had to grind 1 mm off the top of the pad and about 1 1.2 from thw sides.!!

cheers
