Posted May 28, 201311 yr Hi everyone, Just bought a 1977 Yamaha dt 125E (I think...2A6 123cc) as a project bike. The previous owner replaced the wires from the stator but they used solid red color wires and i don't know which is which , it only had a simple kick start wiring, stator - kill switch - coil. I've searched the web for clear pics with no luck. any help or pics would be greatly appreciated.
June 1, 201311 yr if you post a nice clear piture of the stator I might be able to point out all the tails and what they do
June 13, 201311 yr Author Hey guys, been away for a while. got back home this afternoon and got started on the bike again. Now i found a 12v stator (from an Indian bike i came across while i was away, a TVS Apache, quite a solid bike actually) and replaced the 6v one, got some wires as well and will try and make a simple wiring harness this evening thanks to Airheads 78 DT125E wiring diagram. Hopefully i can get the bike running tomorrow, fingers crossed. will put up pics of the old 6v stator Speedshop and the new ones too.
June 28, 201311 yr I'm sure your wife was out when you took those pictures (on top of the hob......) :-) We can fully recondition the original windings for those who don't want to go making thesesorts of changes
