Anyone have any idea when i first start xj900 put it in to gear i get a jerk forward only happens first time then its fine Also after a Rack to fit 51Reg xj900 if anyone has one or knows a good place to get one at a good price

Dont worry all Yamaha's crash into 1st when cold, if your not happy about it put her in gear first then start the bike.

Due to a bike having a wet clutch, the fluid sticks the plates together when cold. Before you start the bike up do the following:

turn ignition on

Pull in clutch

Put into 1st gear

Keeping clutch in rock the bike back and forth un till she rolls freely

Put back into N

Start bike and ride off

welcome gord" its called clutch drag .... :yeah:

I get this on my dtr, early in morning during the colder days I can ride my bike for a few foot in gear with clutch in-little blip of throttle gets them plates slipping

Ken

It's not just Yamaha's that do it. I had a Kwak GPZ600 that did it.
