Posted March 30, 201311 yr I have recently been advised by the services to replace my sprockets and chain. Even though my bike has only done 6k miles. Could be the fact I do a 40 mile commute. They quoted me £173 for a Yamaha chain and for it to be fitted (this is obviously robbery), I have been looking at D.I.D chains. But the latest I can find is 2010, does this really matter? I have noticed the older the model the cheaper the chain becomes. I just want to know if I can fit one of these 2006-2010 chains onto my bike without it messing it up? Any help will be greatly appreciated and thanking in advance.
March 30, 201311 yr As long as the pitch and the number of links in the chain match, it should be fine. Sprockets aren't as straight forward as you need to look for ones with the correct sizing for your bike, not just the number of teeth it has.
March 31, 201311 yr Author Thanks I will have a look in the owners man to get the numbers. If they match ill be fine of not then I will just have to keep looking haha.
