Hi,

This is my first post, so hello. I'd appreciate any help on a Yamaha LS3. I'm considering buying one, but there are very little details about it online. My google searching suggests that it is quite similar to the RS100, but it looks like yamaha made loads of very similar 100cc 2 strokes around that period with many different names (?)

The bike im looking at is registered, and is in quite good shape, but im seeking details on parts availability.

There is a manual and a parts catalog available on ebay.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/YAMAHA-Parts-Manual-LS3-100cc-1972-1973-Replacement-Spares-Catalog-List-/380538313035?pt=Motors_Manuals_Literature&hash=item5899d9d94b&_uhb=1#ht_742wt_1029

I wonder if this would be useful?

I guess my question is, can anyone tell me if the LS3 is very similar to the various other 100cc yamaha 2 strokes around that time, and if so are the parts generally interchangeable. Perhaps also could you list the other yamaha bikes I could search for to source parts.

Many thanks for your help. I'll let you know if I win the bike.. it's on ebay.

Oh.. actually thats a point. Could anyone suggest a vague value for such a bike. Obviously lots of factors at play for value, but im interested in a very vague ballpark number.

Thank you.

Value is entirely subjective. It may share parts with later 100's but that gets you into the std, non std argument.

Roughly the engines are similar right through the 70s and eighties.

Should be an ok restore but there will be some unobtanium or extortionate parts as it is 40 years old.

As a potential daily runner classic its a good one.

Thanks so much for your reply. Do you know if the ls3 was known by another name in other parts of the world? Actually I'm very interested in learning more about it bit I can't find much online.
