March 16, 201312 yr Moderator oh dear, take a deeep breath and start again. Things like this happen to me and I've decided I just get on with it and not lament
March 16, 201312 yr Author Moderator True drewps. I had my tantrum. Swore at the sun, moon and thestars then looked at ways to fix it. So after 2hrs with a swiss file and patience i have rescued the thread. Acid test will be when she runs but i see no reason for it not to work. Have to be careful starting the nut to be sure its square otherwise it looks ok.
March 16, 201312 yr Author Moderator After today i will see how it goes. Its taken too long already dont want anymore disasters.
March 16, 201312 yr If only the last few threads are nfg what i have done is to file them flat/tapered so starting the nut only contacts the lowest part of the undammaged thread, run it in and out a few times with a different nut or if you have a die better. Hope it goes together better next time.
