After a some what infamous introduction to the site we finally got things sorted and I promised you all photo's of my conversion from Virago mag wheels to the spoked version. Well It's done and you can view the photo's by clicking on this link.

One thing I learned in the process of this project is the mag wheels have a cushion drive and the spoked wheels come without it. It makes no difference to the taking off and changing of gears. Another thing I learnt is it is expensive. These were the costs in Australian dollars.

Wheels and freight: $475

Stainless spokes: $ 254

Sandblasing hubs: $ 50

Caliper paint: $30

Spoke fitting and tyres: $540

Chrome the rims: $300

Minimum for running

around fuel: $100

Total $1749

So as you can see it didn't come cheap. By the way, the mags are for sale. Make an offer.

Wow, thats pricey. Glad you got sorted though

My own preference is for the alloys, no rust, easy to clean, no risk of spokes pinging, better in this climate
