d4cl4n Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Some of you have probably encountered this problem. Just wired up some new led indicators and they all flash when i turn them on. There was a relay that came with them but i have no clue if it fits anywhere as the relay under the seat is 4-pin and i cant find any other. Can you point me in the direction of something that will fix this , i know resistors work with it somehow but which ones. Thanks in advance
kenDAWG Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 isnt that the starter relay?? the indicator one should be behind the front light....
d4cl4n Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 I did see something behind the light, if i remember correctly there were two brown wires going into it, should i cut them and solder them to the blue relay ?
kenDAWG Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 dont be so hasty, cant you not unplug the old one and get 2 bits of old wire and attach them to the new led relay make sure it all works before any cutting? its not the best to solder anyway can you not buy some of them spade connectors and a crimper get them on there properly? ken
d4cl4n Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 Yeh i could do that , was just thinking about a quick fix but that would be more substantial. I also messed around with that relay under the seat and the wires may not be in the same place from what they came any ideas what problems that could cause ?
kenDAWG Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 does you bike have electric start? if it is the starter relay and its wired up wrong it will blow the fuse but if there isnt a fuse it will blow the next best thing ken
d4cl4n Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 No it has a kickstart which is why i'm kinda confused as to why it would have a starter relay
kenDAWG Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 chances are its a different relay then but its defo not indicator one thats for sure..... on my xlr and nsr there starter relays looked exactly the same as that one! ken
d4cl4n Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 Thanks for your help, il have to wait until Friday night to wire it up , its gonna bug me the whole week.
kenDAWG Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 hahaha... yes but atleast you didnt end up chopping into the wrong relay!!! ken
d4cl4n Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 Tried temporally wiring the relay to the brown wires going to the original relay and no result , may be stupid but should I have the engine running when testing them ? My engines been off the whole time
d4cl4n Posted February 23, 2013 Author Posted February 23, 2013 Now the front two flash and not the back , thinking there's wire crossed somewhere in a terminal block. God sake who'd of thought inidicators were such a pain in arse
Speedshop Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 If all 4 are coming on it could be that the idiot light is allowing the otherside to be powered.
