I have a neighbor who is almost 83 yrs old. He bought this '71 CT 175 new. It has 119 original miles and is in 99-100% unmolested new condition.

It has been covered in his garage since new. I have seen low mile vintage bikes that were not in good condition but this Yamaha looks like it came off the showroom yesterday. The old guy has kept a tag and insurance on it since new. Why I have no idea.

I doubt there is a better example anywhere. I have not ask him yet but knowing him he has all of the original paper work.

This bike belongs in a museum or with a collector. He has decided he will part with it. I'm sure it's value will vary greatly depending on who you ask.

My question is how to best market this?

Thanks in advance!

Barret Jackson auction with a reserve in around 3k a original bike is worth more than a restored one but alas it only worth what someone will pay for it.

The only real shame is that the bike will never be ridden.

Its really nothing more than a museum piece. Internally there will be no end of issues. It may not even run.

To me its worth nowt. But if i had a few bob and passed my test on one. That would change it massively.

At the end of the day its worth what someone will pay.

Wow " i"l send you a $1000. crate it and send it here,,,,

I have heard him say he always started it every now and then but I will have to ask when it was last run. I think it might start right up.

Ebay ??

Oh god no. Specialist auction. Try one of the classic bike mags or contact the VJMC (vintage japaneese motorcycle club) for proper advice.

NO NO NO NOT E bay as Cynic suggested contact the VJMC so you can get a realestic value of the bike,if it's not running now fix that first,by the sounds of things that should be fairly simple.

The reason I suggested Barret Jackson is that is where the big money is people with a few million to spare go to buy new toys,i don't know what the seller fee is might not be worth it but 10% is not out of line

Looks like I have to buy a yrs membership to the VJMC to ask anyone over there? Wish one of the members would get in touch with me.

If that would be a good place to list it for sale the membership fee would be worth it.

By the way we live in NE KS not far from Kansas City.

Thanks for your help.

I would imagine you make more than the membership fee difference going to a proper auction.

Hell join and keep the bike. Its value will only go up. Just keep it running and clean. Bloody site better than money in the bank.

Post up some piccy"s Dan :icon_rolleyes: , is it the gold or blue...?

It is gold. I do need to take some photos when the weather is better. I haven't seen it myself for a while, he keeps it all covered up in the garage.

Now that he has decided he will part with it I will pay it more attention. I didn't think he would ever sell it so I never got very excited about it.
