j0hn Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Does anyone own a set of the Oxford LED Indicator range? I'm trying to figure out if these would be compatible for my XT 125 X. I emailed Oxford but haven't had reply. I know the indicators state that they are universal but I'm not sure how accurate that is. The thread size (diameter) on the current indicator bolt is only 5mm. Was wondering if anyone that already owns a pair could confirm the thread size.
sparky67 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Hi i`ve also been looking for a set of rear led indicators for my DT not sure about the Oxford`s but some a/market ones i`ve seen they flash faster and need resistors,i`m even looking for the normal standard clear ones and can`t find anywhere at the mo,good luck
kenDAWG Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 ive got these on my dtr http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bike-It-Mini-Indicators-Short-Stem-In-Black-With-Clear-Lens-Pair-/221045128080?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item337750fb90 they do them in short stem, long stem with clear or smoke colour lenses, very bright and decent quality - no need for new indicator realay or resistors ken
j0hn Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 sparky67, If it's LED, you'll need a new flasher relay or resistors. I would personally change the relay so I'm not having to place resistors anywhere (if not built in). I came across this relay on eBay, should be OK by the looks of it: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150951373786?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Damn 8mm bolt fixing, is this the standard size or have I measured the bolt size wrong on my XT?
UK_DT Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Why can't you change the bulbs to LED and fit a new relay? This place is quite good for all the bits: http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk
j0hn Posted January 7, 2013 Author Posted January 7, 2013 I don't really mind if it's LED or not, I just don't like the shape of my indicators
Speedshop Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 We have electronic relays, resistors and 'tweak kits' if you have problems with all the lights coming on at once. An electronic relay is the best option as it uses less power and is very easy to fit. Resistors place the same load on the circuit so the old mechanical relay still works. sparky67 Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 what about these LED bulbs would you need a relay or resistors for these babys http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360547182999
sparky67 Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Would anybody know if you would need resistors for this SMD LED number plate light http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251025095962
j0hn Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 You would need a relay or resistors for the LED bulbs due to power consumption only being around 0.3W. As far as I know, you won't require anything for the number plate light since it's constantly on. The only worry there would be that the power being too much for the LEDs but I doubt that would be that much of a problem.
Speedshop Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Yes you would need resistors. Also I would not buy Chinese stuff. I know its cheap and they might be OK. However experince tells me that they fall to bits or stop working after a short period of time.
Ryan09 Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 If you have a relay and can fix them to the bike then they will work! All that will happen without an LED relay or resistors is that they will flash a lot quicker than they should.
sparky67 Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 found these at www.wemoto £27 + p&p for 2 rear complete stalks
Ryan09 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 They look like the standard ones from a dt? I think i paid around £15 for some mini arrow head indicators with normal bulbs and no leds from M&P.
j0hn Posted January 14, 2013 Author Posted January 14, 2013 That's exactly what I have at the moment. Don't really like the oval shape, hence why I'm looking at the Oxford range. I might just have to risk £34 for a pair and hope they fit .
Speedshop Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 if say thats not a bad price - try looking up the OEM cost for indicators, I'd bet they are nearly that EACH!
