Hello Everybody

I have a DT50 year 1990 bike. I need to change the tachometer cable. But no matter how I pull the cable out (the end near the throttle cable), it won't come out.

Can I just pull it to remove the cable or are there any screws to be unscrewed first? The speedo cable was straight forward. Just needed a pull...

Please help me :/

Thanks for your reply. Here is a photo f546340_185603554914739_1436448824_n.jpgor reference. What should I unscrew?

Usually with that type of fitting there is a screw that stops the outer cable coming out. If you remove the grey oil pump cover (shown in the bottom left of your photo) have a look for a screw on the inside.

Ok thanks YPVS TONE. I will post a photo when I finally open the cover...

Yes, you were right, here are 2 screws. Now which one?

I would say the one on the Right. Loosen the screw and take it right out then try holding the metal part of the cable and try wiggling it from side to side while gently pulling on it.

I think the screw is blocked... maybe due to contraction. When the engine gets really hot, I'll try again, hoping that the little expansion will loosen the screw easily.

I don't want to apply excess force because the material of which the screw is made is really soft. The head is getting damaged quite easily, as is the case with the other screws nearby :icon_sad: . So bad.
