WherEmEweeD Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Hi I recently emptied my engine oil for a refill and also put in a new set of clutch plates. Now i have everything back together. No engine oil is in it. would this be the reason for my clutch lever to have no force/resistance in it? If i refill the oil would the clutch lever comes back to life? Cheers in advance for the help!
Moderator Airhead Posted December 23, 2012 Moderator Posted December 23, 2012 nothing to do with it i would say...you may have done something wrong when re-fitting the plates. and on another note...did you fit the plain plates with the 'tab' right? (this is another story though)
WherEmEweeD Posted December 24, 2012 Author Posted December 24, 2012 well i can remember the friction plates being correctly aligned the normal plate i can remember seeing a small bump on each of them but the haynes manual said nothing about the right way to put the plain plates in. I did also have the alternator cover off but didn't touch anything
WherEmEweeD Posted December 24, 2012 Author Posted December 24, 2012 I can't see any obvious way of putting the plain plates on in a right method. Haynes just states to put the friction then normal then friction etc. I have the clutch plates out and am not sure where i went wrong Could it be that i have lost the ball bearing that goes in front of the pushrod which is connected to the pressure plate?
shambles1980 Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 is there a little nut with a screw ? one of those slacken the clutch cable at the lever then un do the nut turn the screw till you feel resistance turn the screw slightly the opposit way after you do and then tighten the nut jobbys? sorry about being useless at explaining.
wild foamy Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 If ou have lost the ball bearing infront of the clutch pushrod then that would explain it, check that is there and check the number of plates is correct
WherEmEweeD Posted December 24, 2012 Author Posted December 24, 2012 @wild foamy and @shambles1980 Cheers for the info guys really helps. Ball bearing has done a runner and i doubt i will be able to find it. Would any ball bearing do (that fits) or does it have to be a specific ball bearing?
wild foamy Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Assuming you know what size it should be, any stainless steel ball should work
Moderator Airhead Posted December 24, 2012 Moderator Posted December 24, 2012 and on another note again, so did you align the plain plates with the smal bump in a way that they are equally spaced around the basket?
