[email protected] Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 hi everyone ive got a 2010 yam wr125r problem was riding home and gradually revs got lower then conked out on me hasnt fired up since it turns over good spark and plenty of fuel as plug is wet tried bumping her off no luck any ideas many thanks lee,
Moderator Airhead Posted December 2, 2012 Moderator Posted December 2, 2012 leave the plug out overnight and try again tomorrow
[email protected] Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 tried it no luck it sounds like it wants to tho a real headscratcher this one
Moderator Airhead Posted December 3, 2012 Moderator Posted December 3, 2012 OK has the bike got a carburettor? If it has then try draining the float bowl there may be water in there
kenDAWG Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 hmmm is there a problem with the exhaust valve? if there is a spark and plug is wet with fuel then i dont know myself, all i can think of is the burnt fuel isnt getting exhausted
Moderator Airhead Posted December 3, 2012 Moderator Posted December 3, 2012 is compression ok? have you sprayed the HT lead and coil with WD40? Try a new plug even if you do have a spark with the one fitted!
[email protected] Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 compresion is good to check the exhaust valve do i just take off the very top lid off the motor only 6 m8 bolts there?i will have a look tommorow as im waiting for a new plug to be delivered thanks
Moderator Airhead Posted December 3, 2012 Moderator Posted December 3, 2012 do the easy stuff first before you start delving, after all you did say compression was good. WD40 and new plug = easy
kenDAWG Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 Yeh sorry it's a bad idea taking your bike to bits before the easy stuff! Try looking at the induction system also, change the plug! Is the spark nice and bright or is it dull but still sparking? Ken
[email protected] Posted December 5, 2012 Author Posted December 5, 2012 tried new plug wd40 and induction chaps all clear can i check the exhaust valves without tearing it apart thanks again lee
kenDAWG Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Honestly like mate I have never worked on your bike before but when me and my dad done my old Honda xlr we took the head off and checked it all but that is a right chore and I wouldn't advise doing that until someone who knows this model bike can chirp up and give you some pointers. Is your spark a bright healthy looking one or is it bright and dull at different times? Is your bike even trying to start? Sounds like a puzzle to me pal Ken
[email protected] Posted December 8, 2012 Author Posted December 8, 2012 looking at the valves they doesnt seem to be any clearance at all when turning over is that right ??
[email protected] Posted December 8, 2012 Author Posted December 8, 2012 ignore the that last comment there fine got motor tdc after compression stroke and valve clearance fine got it to run for about two seconds 3 or four times now should i check the injection part air filter ect again also my battery is on charge now??????
shambles1980 Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 how is the air on it? i have had issues starting bikes because of the air filter. but having said that those were close to dead b4 i started. it sounds like not enough air or sparking at the wrong time to me.. But i have never worked on a bike that new to be honest with you. if it hasnt got a carb i havent got a clue.
[email protected] Posted January 12, 2013 Author Posted January 12, 2013 got it to start wont rev or idle properly make a small clunk noise near the water pump then cuts out anyideas chaps??? ohh and the negative cable off the battery wasnt grounded to the frame the washer had snapped now replaced thanks lee
