Gday im customising/rebuilding a battered old yamaha.

Its exhaust works well but unlike most other dt models ive seen its silencer bends downwards as seen the photo.

This i would like to change for solely aesthetic reasons

This i was wondering if this can be changed, or what the effect of slicing it off as done by this person with a yamaha dt 250 would be

Evening" Thats an add on, someone didnt like the oil splatter on rear obviously, it should slide out,

Look like a rivit holding it in ,,,

Thanks for the feedback, i have removed it before but it appears to serve a functional purpose as it extends into the exhaust with a grated pipe that i assume acts a filter of some kind?
