Simon1066
Ive a 1982 Yamaha XJ650, 12,000 mile std condition. Noticed this week the HT leads are arcing at low rpm. The HT cables on this bike are molded into the coils. I dont want to replace the coils or splice new HT leads or replace the lead and remold into the coil. I want to put an insulated tube over the existing HT leads to fix the problem. Anyone know where I can find this type of insulated tubing? Any other ideas welcome. nayruf
Hi Simon If you do a google search for 'Heat Shrink Tubing' you might find that this is what you are looking for, It will insulate the leads ok, but I don't know how long they will last or how flexible they will be once finished, When I use this tubing I use a Hot air paint stripper type gun on a low setting to shrink tubing. Hope this helps
Moderator drewpy Posted November 19, 2012 Moderator Share Posted November 19, 2012 there are other types of tubing you can use. have a look at vehicle wiring products to see the range
blackhat250
I would renew the coils if needbe" as sometime in torrential rain, miles from home, their gonna short, any tubing will have capillary action, , whats coils £25.
