smoush Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 I have a dt125x which seems to be loosing water after a few uses a day. When its stood for long or over night periods theres no trace of water on floor etc, the bike is running perfect apart from that.. Quite confused can anyone help. Thanks Chris
Moderator Airhead Posted November 8, 2012 Moderator Posted November 8, 2012 its usually the head gasket gone but can also be the water pump seal, in that case check your gearbox oil isnt a milky emulsion of oil and water
smoush Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 Ok mate thanks I'll check the oil tomorrow, if its fine ill just get the seal done and see what happens. Thanks
Moderator Airhead Posted November 8, 2012 Moderator Posted November 8, 2012 if it's fine then check the head gasket some tell-tale signd for the head gasket are water dripping from the frame (well it was on the DTR), and possibly bubbling in the expansion bottle in a bad case
NEV Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 If it does turn out to be the head gasket like Airhead says, use either a genuine Yamaha or an Athena one, not a cheapo off Ebay, or you'll be replacing it again in about 3 weeks time, I take it you checked all your hose connections too? as water will usually only leak from them whilst under pressure, meaning they probably wont leave tell tale puddles on the floor overnight.
smoush Posted November 12, 2012 Author Posted November 12, 2012 Thanks for your replys guys its ended up being the water pump oil seal, found oil in the water and vise versa :s hopefully this is the only problem now because its not been the only one with this little bugger lol Thanks again chris
