i find that the blacks have far less road sense than us whites , why is that?

When they're driving, perhaps. If they're foreign they tend to have their own country's sensibilities (or lack of) ingrained.

When on two legs, I disagree for the same reason - If you've ever been a pedestrian in Africa or India, you stay the fuck off the road or you die!

Here, white kids have grown up caged within their virtual world of iPods and Angry Birds, but they know they can sue the shit out of any car that hits them... heck, they can pretty much sue a driver even if they walk into his parked car and the driver was indoors!

I had a small near miss the other day with an electric motorbike of all sorts! lol i do own a MP3 player (old school baby) but i never use it so this was no distraction for me this day. I was standing at the road side remembering my Green cross code as you do. So i stopped in a clear area where i could see the road and drivers could see me, my dog was sat next to me, i looked both ways, (twice) and i listened and all was clear.........................or so i thought.

as i took the first step out wooosh!!!! (or HUMMMM) a little moped just shot by me with no noise at all. scared the shit out of me and the dog. but all three of us where ok, the old man on the bike pulled over to see if we where ok and vice versa

MP3 player?

Pah... I still use Minidisc and only because my cassettes are all worn out and stretched now!

Plus, I actually met David Prowse when he still was The Green Cross Code Man!!!

I was so envious of MiniDisc owners when they came out...

I didn't even get one until they only cost a fiver off eBay, with another fiver buying 40 blank discs (all incl. P&P!)

I'm kinda jealous of Android Smartphone owners, but I also hate touchscreens and the bloody things ar so unsecure... I rarely use the phone anyway. I text or use emails at work.

oh ttasky , you so need to get yourself an htc desire or samsung galaxy

What, a Smartphone where most of the useful apps require access to your personal information as well as connectivity, thus opening myself wide to the biggest personal data security risk after going to porn sites without antivirus software... or you think I should go with HTC and their own inherrent security risks as well, just for good measure - Not to mention the fucking astronomical COST of the bastards... I can stay where I am and pay £5 every month or so, or go contract and pay £40 odd, plus all the other charges for the priviledge of something that just about does what my Netbook and even a cheap Tablet off Amazon can do a darn sight better...?

No thanks - Technology has taken several steps backward just to accomodate lazy couch potato motherfuckers who don't give a fuck about being shafted and just want to play Angry Birds and watch TV in bed.

I laughed at all the dickhead pratts who queued for 2-3 days just to get the latest iPhone... I really did.

My phone does everything I want, how I want, when I want at a fraction of the cost, and even with permanent connectivity the battery still lasts 3-4 days!

i just pay £18 a month for a bottom end "smart"phone, its not great, but its good for my social stuff, and ive got a fuel tracker app to keep track of the fel my YBR takes (averaging ABOVE 100mpg)

What social stuff?

I have a phone, texts and the ability to visit people, or meet them down the pub. What more is there! :)

I thought iPhones were wank and was sick of everyone banging on about them all the time. I had an HTC and it kept fucking up. I had to send it back to HTC twice, so eventually I thought sod it and got an iPhone. I love it, they are excellent and definitely the best phones going. I won't get another now apart from iPhones. The security on iPhones is the bollocks, they can't be hacked unlike android phones.

thats only because they have the market tied up.

htc stole all the best bits from iphone and added there own twist.

Can't be hacked? Everything can be hacked.

The issue I have is that many of the apps for all these phones, including ones you'd never expect, can and do access personal information which is then available online. You can't usually deny the permission for such and the only way to avoid this is to not get the apps.

boy oh boy ttasky ? your one paranoid mother f???

Apple employ the worlds elite in hackers to beat them at their own game. Macbooks don't get virus's.

Knowing several people who've had such issues, and finding out a LOT with just a 5-minute Google, I'd say my reluctance is perfectly justified.

However:

iPhone is secure, eh?

http://www.cvedetails.com/vulnerability-list/vendor_id-49/product_id-15556/year-2012/Apple-Iphone-Os.html

There are similar lists for all the Samsung range too, including remote-wipes that copy your data out of your phone, then erase everthing. It's like cloning, but it eliminates the original (ie yours), thus replacing it - Good luck arguing that!

iOS 4 and 5 are also both vulnerable to flaws in the Nitro Javascript engine that permits remote access and pretty much full control, be it making your phone ring on demand or accessing just about every bit of personal data, from emails and phone contacts to web history and GPS location.

Here's a list of known security vulnerabilities, from Apple themselves:

http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/new-macdefender-malware-infecting-unsuspecting-apple-users/

Absolute naive fucking bollocks - EVERY computer can get viruses, malware and so forth. Viruses are less useful these days, as hacking and data theft actually brings in money, whereas hitting you with a Trojan that wipes your drive is considered a childish prank. Why do that when you can make money selling people's data?

There are fewer hacks there that specifically target Macs, but they do exist. Again, several users I know have experienced this, including the bloke sat opposite me at work right now. Go get a copy of The Mac Hackers Handbook and then we'll talk ;)

Macbooks are wide open to Malware installations and there's a remote hack that can rewrite the firmware on the battery's embedded chip to brick it and render it useless. Apparently a good hacker could even make the battery explode.

Apparently, you can hack into a MacBook within seconds (not the first time this has happened, either):

Thats down to idiots clicking on dodgy links. If someones stupid enough to click in links asking for their bank details or passwords, then they deserve to be hacked.

Mac os is based on unix the same platform as Linux etc and its said there arnt viruses for these operating systems but they are out there just not as wide spread as viruses for windows.

I agree with Ttask in some sense, iv managed to hack into a mac before and it was suprisingly easy.

Obviously I have been mis-informed, you really can't believe everything you read and hear. I still think iPhones are the best. I don't own a MacBook, a grand for a laptop is just ridiculous.
