Hi everybody,

Had my Dragstar (2008 model with 15000 km on the clock) for nearly a year now and done 5000 kilometers with no problems. However I am finding the gearchange to be increasingly clunky, seeming to get worse every week. The oil level is fine and there is no drag on the clutch when you engage first gear, which would indicate clutch wear, but it engages with a loud "thunk", as does every gear, even with the wind noise. It is worse when changing down, even when I hold the revs neutrally with the speed (if you understand what I mean). Everything else runs sweet as a nut.

My son (a real biker, I was born again a year ago) is visiting in 4 weeks and I was thinking of stripping it while he was here, but if anyone has any bright ideas, I would appreciate it.

Thanking you in anticipation!

Only thing I can think of is the cluch basket may be comming loose from the gear, ive seen it on bikes that have been drag raced alot the pins that hole the basket to the gear come loose.

Might be worth changing your oil and filter. Could be a a cheap and easy win (if you've not done it since you've had the bike)

I've heard the 1300 sometimes has clutch basket coming loose. The 1300 also has straight cut teeth which makes it clunky... Could the 1100 have them as well? As said above, change oil and filter to see if any improvement

Clutch cable adjustment. Mine does it too.

Thanks for all the replies. I had oil and filter changed when I got the bike 11 months ago and I'm pretty certain its not done any standing quarter miles!! I will try a slight adjustment on the clutch cable to see if it has any effect. Other than that, looks like a stripdown...

I will keep you informed.
