chrisbob
Hi, I'm new to all this but I understand that it's a good call to introduce myself. So, My names Christopher and I currently work in London as a Chef. I'm moving back down to Tunbridge Wells in a few days and have decided to get myself my first bike, YZF-R125, which I collect on Saturday. I'm 20 and have wanted a bike from about 12 years old! Thanks to the couple of people who responded to my insurance post and pointed out that the intro is good etiquette. Any advice on riding, basically not getting knocked off, insurance, what kit to buy and the best way to protect my bike from getting nicked would be fantastic. slice
HI Chris, Welcome to the YOC, try BENNETTS or Thebikeinsurer.co.uk or any of the comparison websites for a quote but make sure your sitting down BEFORE you read the quotes tho as some of them will make your eyes water, it might be cheap to run a bike but insurance is the same crappy rip off as anything else. luck mate. P.S nice intro :biglaugha:
Noise
Hi Chris! Great intro and welcome to the group. Top tip on how not to get knocked off the bike............keep your eyes open, treat EVERY other car driver or the like as a complete cunt and do every thing you can to read what they are going to do, use your physic ability of knowing which way they are going to turn as now our days you don't need to use your indicators Also ride with your brain...not with your ego! do what YOU can do not what the guys on you tube can do. All in all just ride the flipping bike and enjoy it. its the best freedom your get if your married lol
paulrever
Hello Chris, Indeed a nice intro and welcome to the bike world. Always imagine other road users don't see you. Watch out for pedestrians and cyclists, you may not see them because you may be only looking for cars, vans, buses etc...... Keep real on your ability, as has been said on another forum; people who do stunts are only showing off. The purpose for riding a bike is to get to A to B in the safest way. For insurance, see if 'Open and Direct' can do anything for you, they are N.Irelands biggie, not sure if they do outsiders though. Safe journeys amigo!
