Dmac Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Hi everyone. this is my first post and i just started by first restoration project yesterday Im rebuilding an 1966/67 yds 3 and i have no idea how to wire the ignition switch. i thinker there are 5 positions. if anyone has a wiring diagram or any idea how this goes, id appreciate it a lot. thanks
Moderator Airhead Posted August 5, 2012 Moderator Posted August 5, 2012 dunno but how many ring connectors are there what colour wires are there what are the id marks adjacent to the screw connections do the id marks bear any relation to wire colour see my signature line
YPVS TONE Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Looks like there are some letters by each screw which would correspond to rge coloured wires. Can you tell what letters they are ? Usually Yamaha wiring colour codes are : R = Red B = Black L = Blue R/Y = Red/Yellow G = Green Y = Yellow W = White O = Orange Ch = Dark Brown (Chocolate) There are more but these are the basic ones Tony
Dmac Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 thanks a lot. the letters are A, B, C, L, & T i found a wiring diagram for the YL-1 online, which i think tells me 3 (on it B goes to the Battery and is red, L goes to the tail Light and is blue, and C goes to ignition Coil and is brown) , from there i might be able to deduce the rest when i attempt again tomorrow
