s-price13
What's the easiest way to tell the difference between 1973 ct3 175 and 1973 dt75?
nayruf
Hi Other than the frame/engine no. I think the CT3 exhaust runs along the left (oops I meant right) side of the bike and the DT has an exhaust that crosses over the top of the cylinder head
Moderator Cynic Posted July 18, 2012 Moderator Share Posted July 18, 2012 Tricky. Why do you need to know.

s-price13
Hi Just had an email from a bike shop My engine number starts with CT1-300 8 Here is the relevant section from the Yamaha frame code book: CT1 000101- 251 CT1 69 CT1 303101-310000 458 DT175 74 CT1 310101-400000 458 DT175 75 So my bike is a CT3? Moderator Cynic Posted July 19, 2012 Moderator Share Posted July 19, 2012 From what i know the Dt came into being proper early 73. That number kicks off the 73 bikes although things weren't definite back then to say the least. The bikes are pretty much the same, only really obvious switch was the tailpipe swapping sides. With some having a different tank shape. A pic would help a lot.

Sacha
No worries! Glad you got it sorted. Looks like a great bike. Not the first time (and likely not the last) that I'll say it, but I love the look of these classic bikes.
