Hi,

I want to replace the crank case cover on my XJ6N.

I got it scratched up having to lay the bike down.

Unfortunately, it was on stoney ground and attemping to pick it up, the bike slid.

(Yeah, I feel crap about it).

It seems to me that I just need to; drain the oil, unbolt cover and remove the old gasket.

Then, fit new gasket, bolt on new cover, refill with oil and check for leaks.

Can it be as simple as that?

Any advice would be appreciated.

generally...Right side has oil behind it and Left side does not...cant be sure about that though, perhaps others will know

It's the cover on the chain side..... left side as you sit on the bike.

might not need to drain the oil.

maybe tilt the bike over a bit in a secure manour of course and the oil should run the other way.

Dont think there is oil in there though.

Well, for anyone interested I removed the case and....WOW!

I have some photo's but don't know how to post them.

When undoing the case some oil was leaking so I drained engine.

There's quite a strong magnetic hold as inside the cover is 18 copper coils.

I put it back together again because I did'nt have the tool to unscrew it from the case.

When I get that tool it should be 'job done'.
