nilzor Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Hi, I have a problem with my AT3... I tested the spark plug to see if it gives off a spark. I also took off the connector but no luck here as well. The next thing I guess is to thest the coil. How do I do that? Do I need to yake it off the bike? the Cables seem to be soldere on... Thanks for any advice, Nilzor
flyday58 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Did you try another spark plug to verify no spark?
nilzor Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 yes, i also held the end coming from the coil against the engine to see if there's a spark there
skik Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 if you can get a similar coil off another running bike and try that for spark or yours on another bike.
Moderator Airhead Posted June 27, 2012 Moderator Posted June 27, 2012 you can check the resistances of the ignition coil and the field coil, the figures are in the parts book PM sent
blackhat250 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Take the Mag cover off " see if points are sparking, [ kick over in dark area ,]
nilzor Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 Thanks all, By now the battery completely drained. Would that have an impact on the ignition? @blackhat250 What do you mean with Mag cover, like the flywheel?
skik Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 check engine is earthed to frame ok and all earth points
nilzor Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 is there a chance that it doesnt work without the original key? I can put another key in and change the position of the ignition. However the key is kinda loose in there...
blackhat250 Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 As long as the ignition is on, you can disconect the black/white wire to iggy switch & handlebar stop , this should give you spark, ,
