Dtr1991 Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Hello just thought id post my current project witch i bought a few months back i paided 100 pound for her and it had been sat up for 3 years in somes back garden rotting away so i decided to strip and rebulid from the ground up here is a picture when i bought it so thats it he had the v5 and everything so at 100 pound a bargin it didnt run at all when i had it due to sum vandals trying to steal it everything was stiff and seesed up so first thing i tried was to get it running after half hour with messing about with the loom i got it running not that i was very nice when it did lol . limited pictures atm after stripping i had the frame powerd coated After the powerd coating the swing arm and frame cost me 90 pound for the lot well happy but at this point this is when it hit me how much wud need replacing were it was just so rusty worn out ! after all bearings changed i put it back onto its wheels at it was much easier working at this level changed gaotors for the sleaves made it look a bit more up to date and id never used them before so thought i would give them a try i changed the head set bearing from the loose to the full races alot eaier to work with than seprate bearing lol another picture of when it was back on wheels mind it wasnt all bolts tighten up just all loose together just to make sure its all fitted together nicely alot of cleaning and replacing but well worth it even at this stage
AndyDtr08 Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 As said, looking good! Is it complete now or is this the stage you are at? I'm working on a DT125R too at the moment. My eventual plan is to start from the ground up with one of the frames I have. The current one will probably be sold once I've completed it to pay for the next one. Keep up the photos and info!
Dtr1991 Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 yeahh got loads more info and pictures its no running will keep posted with photos added tomorrow
Dtr1991 Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 this was when the fully rebuilt engine was fitted after all bearings piston rings plus a rebore was done the clutch side casing was changed from the older one one reason as i wanted the newer oil pump fitted rather than the older one so it came from a 2005 re and was mint all new gaskets fitted
Dtr1991 Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 better picture at this stage rad was fitted along side the oil tank i bought a second had dep pipe had a standard one on it rusted to hell ! and these provide a proper de ristriction look and sound sooo much better aswell two refurbed calipers fitted along with the resprayed footpegs and the rear brake foot pedal water pipes to rad
Dtr1991 Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 another picture at this stage this point it stayed like this for a few weeks to plan a few things were i wanted to go next
Dtr1991 Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 At this point the airbox was fitted and cleaned the loom along with the cdi also the clocks with the headlight stay and headlight but was finding great difficult finding a dep rear box lol took 3 weeks before a mint one came up ebay for a good price , as when i was putting it back together 60 percent off the stuff i took off i didnt want them back onto the bike so i bought mint second hand or new as buy everything new would cost a bomb as some of u guys may no lol
Dtr1991 Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 at this point my new renthal bars arrived as the old ones i hated along with all new leavers grips and all bolts replaced with allen key replacements 2 reason look 100 times betta and it seem yamaha make there bolt out of clay lol as they have a real nack of rounding off so a impact driver comes in real handy
Dtr1991 Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 This point its really comming together finally found a dep rear box 40 pounds bargin !! also all the oil oump fitted and swapped all tubes to blue clear sillicone tubes as it looks betta and you can allways see the pump working stops it heat seizing carb fitted with new over flow pipes in blue again and all polished and cleaned up
Dtr1991 Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 same stage diffrent angle but thinking about cutting the backbox down and making a stubby as they seem to hang out abit to far and the subbys sound and look better

AndyDtr08 Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Looking fantastic. Were your panels ordered from portugal via ebay? Did you encounter any problems fitting the engine casing on the oil pump. I have an new engine with it and would quite like to fit the later casing on.
Dtr1991 Posted June 21, 2012 Author Posted June 21, 2012 yeah yeah the guy was really helpful in ordering them well i as you know a 1991 engine had the older casing with the old school pump i replaced the whole thing from a 2005 re and 2005 re pump and fitted stright on so it would work either way
