Grouch Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 My new new handlebars have arrived and I'm going to fit them myself. It seems like a really simple job, is there any special technique or any advice anyone can give me?
divster Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 what bars ya got ? ive just fitted drag bars to my divvyrat , when ya put the grips back on use hairspray thats what i got told and it works a treat
Grouch Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 I've got an XT125 so I've just got some basic motocross ones. They're just cheap ones but they look ok. I wanted some Renthal ones but the ones I wanted were pretty expensive.
divster Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 do they have the knurled (bumpy) bits on where the clamps would fit , cos if they dont get the tape measure out , i got mine 5mm off centre and it felt like i was pissed were you at squires at the weekend ?
Grouch Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 No they don't, they've just got the criss - cross corrugated edge on the left hand side. I haven't been to Squire's yet. Another member suggested it to me the other day, so I had a look on their website and it looks really good. I only live a few miles away so I'm definitely going to have a ride over to check it out.
divster Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 ahh just there was a lad with an xt , yeah squires aint a bad place deffo on a weds night if its nice ,im only in harrogate so i plod over whenever i can
Grouch Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 I'm definitely going to go over, I'm just a bit apprehensive as I don't know any one.

Sacha Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Looks like you "know" divster... and we all have to start somewhere.
divster Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 its good to have a brew and a natter and a look around the bikes
Sacha Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 what's "natters" precious? (in my best gollum voice... and off topic)
Moderator Airhead Posted May 18, 2012 Moderator Posted May 18, 2012 to have a 'natter' is to have a chat sacha, same as 'chewin the fat' lol
Grouch Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 Hopefully my bike will be sorted by Wed, so I can have a ride over.
Grouch Posted May 19, 2012 Author Posted May 19, 2012 I've fitted them. It was easy, and I enjoyed it. I just lost a screw inside the bike somewhere lol.
