Tommy xs Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 lookin good drew, don't know where you find the time between work, scouts & day to day stuff.
Moderator drewpy Posted May 15, 2013 Author Moderator Posted May 15, 2013 decided to make a hot wire cutter tonight so I can carve the new seat foam. came out really well although it took 3 different chargers to find the right amperage 1
Moderator drewpy Posted May 23, 2013 Author Moderator Posted May 23, 2013 nothing more to report yet as the wheels are at Manchester Xtreme managed to shape the seat foam and building the bottom engine this weekend. found this on youtube, 90cc and 168kph (104mph) bloody thing wheelies on power too ]http://youtu.be/TFuvrlLJDdg?t=2m11s
Moderator drewpy Posted May 25, 2013 Author Moderator Posted May 25, 2013 went to build the bottom end today and I noticed i have the wrong mains bearing I also noticed the new 5 speed cluster has a blued fork selector, can I reuse this or is it best to find a better part?
Moderator drewpy Posted May 30, 2013 Author Moderator Posted May 30, 2013 well things have moved on a bit more; tool the seat to Matt in Hyde to get it covered and I picked up my wheel from Manchester Xtreme looks ace rear view (makes the rear seem larger) not sure whether to go for a traditional ribbed front tyre or go modern and get stickier, I'm leaning towards sticky ATM and I also eyed up the headlamp I'm using that's why I needed longer fork ears still got about £500 to spend on this yet
Tommy xs Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 that's going to be a real stunner drew you've change my way of thinking here, co's the was a time not so long ago when I wouldn't look twice at a 50cc bike, and when I first seen this I thought to myself Why? but now I'm beginning to open my eyes can't wait to see it finished now.
Moderator Airhead Posted May 30, 2013 Moderator Posted May 30, 2013 looking great drewpy...keep the momentum up love the handlebar how was the kicker you picked up from Stafford then?
Moderator drewpy Posted May 31, 2013 Author Moderator Posted May 31, 2013 looking great drewpy...keep the momentum up love the handlebar how was the kicker you picked up from Stafford then? I've stripped the paint off and had to file a bit more to open the gap in order for it to grip the shaft properly. will prob repaint it as the chrome has been ground off, sorted I think. those handlebars are original tomaselli ones and I've kept the patina on them too Just awaiting Bob Wright to find me a 5th Gear selector fork so I can finish the bottom end. I matched up the ports yesterday to the cases and they were about 1mm out which is a lot for a two stroke. I'm leaving the ports alone as they are the 6.2hp ones BTW those are not the rear shocks, just mock up ones
Moderator drewpy Posted June 18, 2013 Author Moderator Posted June 18, 2013 YAY the seat arrived! picked it up from Matt Caulfield and it looks great, see for yourself 2
Moderator Airhead Posted June 18, 2013 Moderator Posted June 18, 2013 That look just fantastic mate, bet you're made up with that
Moderator drewpy Posted June 18, 2013 Author Moderator Posted June 18, 2013 came out just as I envisioned. project stalled now as I need a 5th Gear selector, and time and money......
wild foamy Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 i take it that self-fabrication is out of the question?
Moderator drewpy Posted June 19, 2013 Author Moderator Posted June 19, 2013 i take it that self-fabrication is out of the question? I don't have the facillities but maybe I might have to get someone to make one.
Moderator drewpy Posted June 29, 2013 Author Moderator Posted June 29, 2013 bought tyres today, Heidenau thingies, German make so should be good. fitted them tonight and the front was a bitch to fit and my fingers were knackered, the rear was dead easy and it just popped on! Now I can weld on the front mudguard brackets and work out how to fab a tie bracket for the TLS brake.
oldtimer Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Looks like you might have it finished before I pop my clogs. Lol.
