Posted February 8, 201213 yr hi everyone, i own a 1981 yamaha xs400 special II and i am having one hell of a time with it to say the least... Lately I have had trouble starting it (will NOT start without ether, i know thats terrible for the engine but what can i do...), and also once i get it started it runs on one cylinder wonderfully and the other one sputters and backfires... I did a good carb clean, replaced battery, replaced plugs.....i just do not know where to go from here. PLEASE HELP!!
February 8, 201213 yr Moderator service the bike then strip reclean the carbs, not spray a bit of carb cleaner in the carb mouth!
