When changing my needle position I smeared my diaphragm in silicone grease to protect the rubber from the fuel and such. Carb cleaner is good stuff but if it finds its way up the slider which it will, the acetone/methanol part of it will attack the diaphragm, I use fuel cleaner, it does work, I use Redlines SI-1 Complete fuel system cleaner, its not just solvents, its packed with high temp detergents, I would silicone grease the diaphragm anyway, as the accelerator pump squirts fuel onto the slider.
